Make a difference in the lives of kindergarten through 12th grade students in Yuma’s schools, where the need for exceptional teachers is great. We are currently accepting applications to teach math, science, special education, and language arts for students looking for the teacher who will make a real difference and who will give them the skills to graduate from high school and succeed in life. Fellows who are selected to teach in Yuma will secure full-time teaching positions in one of our partner districts:
Why is there an urgent need for high quality teachers in Yuma? In 2008, less than half of eighth grade students met state standards in math in the Crane Elementary School District, as measured by the Aptitude Inventory Measurement Service or AIMS. That same year in the Yuma Union High School District, barely half of students met state writing standards as measured by AIMS. The percentage of students meeting state standards must increase, but we cannot do that without high-quality, effective teachers in place. Apply to teach in Yuma today.

Yuma is located in the Sonoran desert and is bordered on the west by California, the south by Mexico, and the north by the Colorado River. According to the Guinness Book of World Records Yuma is the sunniest place on earth, and the sun shines 90% of the time. In 2008, Yuma had an estimated population of a little more than 90,000 residents and is also one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the United States.
“Yuma is a fabulous place to work, raise children, and be a part of a community.”
- Toni Badone, Yuma Union High School District Superintendent
Although a small community in some ways, Yuma has a thriving arts scene and offers some of the region’s best outdoor and nature activities. Yuma features many parks and playgrounds, and a variety of recreational activities and cultural attractions. Yuma is home to five dance companies, the national landmark Imperial Sand Dunes, and the Yuma Art Museum Center. Yuma also is home to the soothing waters of the Colorado River, many lush golf courses, a diverse selection of restaurants and shopping boutiques, natural wildlife, and breathtaking scenery...
