Phoenix Teaching Fellows seeks outstanding professionals and recent college graduates who wish to build a career making a difference in the lives of Phoenix’s children. This highly-selective program is designed to recruit and train socially-driven individuals, like you, who want to give back to our community by becoming teachers in high-need elementary and K-8 public schools in the Murphy Elementary School District, Phoenix Elementary School District, and Roosevelt School District.  Fellows benefit from an accelerated route into teaching, earning a Master’s degree and certification while teaching full time.

• Only 57% of Murphy School District seventh graders performed at or above proficient levels in math on Arizona's Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) in 2008, compared with 71% of seventh graders statewide.

• Less than 4% of Hispanic and Black 8th graders in Arizona exceeded standards in math on Arizona's Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) in 2008.

• Only 5% of Arizona students perform at Advanced levels in mathematics, according to 2007 NAEP data.

• On the 2007 NAEP reading assessment, Arizona 8th graders scored below students in 40 other states.

• The facts: The percentage of Arizona 8th graders who performed at or above the NAEP Basic level was 65% in 2007, compared with 72% in 1998. As a Phoenix Teaching Fellow, you can level the playing field.
